Took a rest day today, sometimes it’s super hard for me to take rest days, at the end of the day I feel ashamed and like I’m moving backwards every time I don’t go to the gym. However I know they’re beneficial. Gotta trust the process and stay true to my goals. Have roughly 4 weeks to make a decision. Shall I continue training as I currently am, more strength based- less hypertrophy based, less restrictive diet and more lenient lifestyle. Or shall I go down the road of bodybuilding. I admire bodybuilding and have since a child, but it certainly goes against everything we preach as trainers in terms of balance and health. Am I prepared to cut out alcohol, eat 5,000 cals a day...consider the other necessary measures that everyone knows of but few are courageous enough to speak of. Certainly the less restrictive lifestyle sounds better in this depiction. But isn’t there a beauty in sacrificing the simple pleasures of life to achieve victory and glory. Isn’t there beauty in breaking the mold and taking the road less traveled, to reach a point few are capable of? This is my dilemma for the next 4 weeks 🤔 #FlexFriday
In the spirit of the bulking season #thanksgiving ‘Tis the Season’ to grow. I never took bulking seriously before this year. The fear of getting ‘fat’ or ‘too big’ held me back. Now I know how ridiculous that all sounds but at the time it was real. However, it must be noted this may also lead to greater risk of injury😩 . ❤️Push ups are also an excellent movement for shoulder health, when performed correctly. They reinforce ideal scapular movement and produce high EMG activity in the posterior rotator cuff, which is often lacking (Uhl et al., 2003). The push up is also a closed chain exercise so has advantages in providing increased joint proprioception✅ . 📌To conclude, both should be included in your routine. Solid back day today. Been out of it the last week with a pulled muscle. Finally getting back into it. Today I hit close grip weighted pull-ups, iso-cable pull-downs, barbell rows, bent over dumbbell power rows, close grip seated cable rows, twisting dumbbell curls, reverse grip barbell curls, seated calf press, decline crunches and lateral leg raises. I heightened the intensity a bit today, I was just really feeling it.
