. Episode 83: Serratus Wall Slides . Today we will be talking about the Serratus Wall Slides which are another great way to train activation of our Serratus Anterior, particularly overhead, instead of just its roll in protraction. Serratus Wall Slides also allow the Serratus to assist in upward rotation of the scapula. . Performance Tips ✔️✔️✔️ 🔹 Before even grabbing a band, just place the arms in the start position and try to push the forearms into the wall. Perform isometric contractions (10 second holds) to activate the Serratus. 🔹 Once you feel you are beyond isometric pressing, again without the band, Slide the forearms up the wall (as shown). Keep hands in line with the elbows, or slightly outside the elbow, to cue ER during overhead motion. 🔹 To progress, incorporate a band and fight against it to keep the hands in line with the shoulders. 🔹 Once we have walked our hands up as high as possible, we can also lift our arms off the wall for a 5 second count before waking down the wall to increase difficulty. This will recruit the accessory action of posterior scapula tilting. . REMINDER: Train smart, not stupid 🎓We are trying to avoid scapula winging, so if you see your shoulder blades popping off your back throughout the exercise, scale down a difficulty until you can maintain a flat shoulder position. .
