Heading home to Seattle tomorrow, getting pumped to be back in the #PNW
I missed my evergreen state 🌲 some big changes ahead.. stay tuned to find out what 🙃but I’m going to use this break/rest period to refocus my mind for the next season, get some much needed massages 💆 to work out the knots I’ve neglected, and maintain my podcast walks! Soooo looking forward to some time off, maybe even go to yoga with my mom? (Anyone else have a mom that loves to wake up at the crack of dawn for yoga?!)
Wanted to check in and express my little post-comp blues... because it’s inevitable isn’t it!? We all go through this body transformation and have to mentally prepare for a new normal! Trying to figure out this new version of my self image as I teeter in between shreds and no shreds. For me, I hold most of my weight on my legs, and never on my stomach. So yes, the abs will be out and about most likely! But the arms have slowly softened (bye bye shoulda bouldas) and as have the legs. But the key to happiness is to love yourself at all stages (or so I hear) , and currently I’m on that path to figuring it out, slowly but surely ☺️ Feeling empowered through my food choices has helped a ton, and helped my overall #health
by filling in the nutritional gaps. Buuut also making sure to not think about every gram by gram difference in each meal, letting myself have a glass of red wine now and then! Learning to love the flexible living... backing off my OCD of food consumption 😅
All in all, I have really been enjoying the off season, moreover, I NEEDED it. I haven’t been following any strict plan, but rather just eating intuitively and trying to slowly creep in some excess cals (through healthy foods of course! #sweetpotatogains).
But since starting this crazy fitness journey and learning how my body responds, I honestly just prefer to work with the foods I know I feel my best when I eat. So here’s a little lay down for what I’ve been stocking my cabinets with: Carbs🍠sweet potatoes and basmati rice. Veggies🥦asparagus, spinach, califlower or broccoli rice. Fats🥜 coconut oil, avocado, and almonds. Protein🐟: all da fishies (continued in comments👇🏼)
