(Super late) #toasttuesday-ing
to friends. See, I like to have a mile-long to-do list and be asleep before 11. As such, you’ll sometimes hear me joke that I have no friends. Actually, if I talk to a lot of my friends, they’ll make the same joke. Too busy, not enough time, no friends.
And so today, and all days, I’m exceptionally grateful that it is, in fact, just a joke when I say I have no friends. Because while my group has shrunk, we’ve stuck together through a lot. While my closest friends spend most of the year in different cities, states, and sometimes countries, and I can go months - sometimes a year - without seeing them in person, I have really, truly excellent friends. The kind who encourage each other through the hard stuff and compare social media intel on acquaintances and celebrate the little victories. The kind who usually know what’s better for you than you know yourself, who are always as up for emergency therapy sessions complete with cookies as for casually catching up over lunch. If you don’t have yours yet, don’t despair. It’s never too late for new ones, but don’t discount the old ones.
Basically, I’ve relished seeing my people over the last few weeks before I go traipsing off on my own for a few months.
How do you love to connect with your friends?
