#30DaysOfGratitudeDay21 So very thankful for the breathing techniques and meditation practices I've learned over the years. They have saved me over and over again. My first introduction to breathing techniques was during Lamaz classes for the birth of my first son 36 years ago. Using the breathing techniques I learned, I was able to give birth completely naturally with no medical interventions or pharmaceuticals and left the hospital 24 hours later with a healthy baby boy. 5 years later, I was able to do it again with my second son in an even easier and more relaxed fashion. In the years since then I've used breathing to calm myself in tense situations and have taught my sons and others how to use breathing to relax, balance and center yourself to bring harmony to mind and body in many situations including emergencies. Now I do deep centering breaths each morning to start my day after I've given gratitude for at least 3 things in my life. I do this before I get out of bed each morning as well as set my intentions for the day. For the past 4 years I've meditated almost everyday for at least a few minutes. Many of those days I meditated for an hour or more. I find my favorite way to meditate is to be in the sun and out in nature or as close to nature as possible (think big window with view of trees and birds with the sun streaming in) listening to binural beats and breathing deeply. It's a magical combination for me. I find I can get into a deep meditative state quickly that way. Doing this in the morning allows the day to flow so much better for me, things seem easier and I have more inspiration and synchronicities that occur. I can't even imagine how different my life would be without these two lifeline tools.
