From the top of #pacificomountain! I started the day out happy and full of energy! Figured a 12+ mile trail run was going to be fun. As I took off through the gorgeous scenery I remembered it had been a little bit of time since I'd trail run. The pain started kicking in. Brisk walking commenced. My lungs recovered some and I took off again! The burning in my lungs reminded me that it had been a fair bit of time since I had last trail run. Semi brisk walking commenced. Snacks were had. Exploring happened and the summit block came into view. Turning back to the car I was reminded by my legs that it had been a very long time since I had trail run.
This is where I remembered the wise words of Yoda. "Try not. Do! Or do not. There is no try." So I started jogging down the trail again. I pushed through some pain reminding myself that we, as humans, are capable of far more than we believe. I think our cushioned lives can fool us into thinking we're incapable of greatness. That's about the same time my hip flexors said hello! I really thought about it and realized I haven't trail run since September. September. Oops. Two days later muscles throughout my body are doing their best to discourage me from trying that nonsense again. I'm a slow learner- I'll be doing something silly like that again tomorrow.
Oh, yeah. Thanks for the day off to hurt myself, @rei!
The mountains were calling- so we charged the GoPro, packed our bags, and picked up an adventure pass .... but both of us didn't set an alarm to wake up for the early hike 😅✌🏻⏰ | Thank you @nutsandlemons for sending me these cute pins!! I love them!
