Just got a new FUN mat to do my #queenteam workouts! Today I have to share wasn’t my day. I struggled a lot with the leg workout and was only able to do the first 3 circuits. My body wasn’t very happy and I could feel it. Anyway I am excited and very motivated to do the Upper Body workout for tomorrow....I guess at the end that’s what matters: that the motivation still there, and that this is part of life, sometimes we are up or down. . #fitforareason #alexiaclark #fitnesslifestyle #fitnesswear #fitnessgear
FAILURE AS SUCCESS Today’s #alexiaclark leg day was 🔥 🔥!! I was so excited to tackle the Bulgarian split squat circuit and make it my 🐶 but my legs just gave out on me. I finally called it good at 2/3rds complete. I was feeling so bummed not to have finished the circuit and felt like a failure (to be fair, it was a tough night of blood sugars & I was running on fumes 😴). . . But wait🤚- isn’t there a whole style of training where you basically exercise to failure on purpose? Isn’t that what a burnout circuit is? MIND SHIFT!!! My workout was a success- I’d done such a good job I’d trained to failure and couldn’t do anymore. See? Training to failure vs am a failure. 💡💡💡 So don’t stress if you can’t finish or have to modify your workout. Do your best and change your mind...your body will follow. . . And yes, I’m drinking espresso at 3pm here. #thuglife

Today I have been struggling about working out. 😩 I absolutely love going to the gym because it’s the only time I get to myself with very limited distractions (e.g. the usual mid-workout-diaper-change 😉) and with my daughters’ school this morning then nap time and child care schedules at the gym and scheduling my Gma’s day just right I can’t figure out a time to go.... which makes me not want to workout AT ALL if I can’t get to the gym. So in the midst of my frustration I decided to cook up a healthy lunch and in some way it motivated me to workout from home instead (which is something I never do anymore because of the CONSTANT distractions). Sometimes you just got to take your day one little step at a time and the better choices you make in the little steps the more likely you will continue to stay motivated through out the rest of the day. The dripping sweat, the jelly arms, the permanent DOMS...yep #queenteam I’m officially back 👊 Just finished legs and omg I loved it SO much! So @alexia_clark email this morning inspired me to think about my goals for 2018. This morning I learned I wasn’t successful at a recent job interview (I have a job but was looking elsewhere). I was disappointed but then spun a positive note on it...take a knock back in life and grow back. Everything happens for a reason, go for something that’s going to be bigger & more exciting (plus it’s their loss 😜). - So my goals (I’ve so many but here are some): - 1) try to even out my imbalances. I want to be able to do single leg deadlifts with a heavy weight and not wobble! - 2) Love the exercises I dread like Bulgarian split squats, wall sits and lunges. I used to think that @alexia_clark and I were best girlfriends... until this morning. I think our relationship status just changed to “it’s complicated” because this #legday killed me. I was toast after circuit 1. Circuit 2? I was feeling the pain. Circuit 3? I almost threw up. I used to looove Bulgarian split squats. Now I can’t look at them the same way.... all jokes aside, this was a killer leg day! I got through circuit 4 at 73 mins and decided to call it a day because my legs are like jello. It’s another #WOWednesday and today I’m featuring Amanda. She has only been doing my program for a short time and has already seen amazing progress. This is the progress that is so important. A lot of times we get caught up in the transformation photos and the physical look of what fitness can do for you. That’s all great but it doesn’t compare to what it can do for you emotionally, mentally and spiritually. When you really think about it the most beautiful and incredible things in the world can’t be seen or touched. They can only been felt internally. Here is her story and to learn more about her check out my story later I will be featuring her! “I started the Alexia Clark program a week ago, the very day my son was diagnosed with T1D. Needless to say my workouts the last week have been terrible as my head wasn’t in the game. I tried every day but only managed to get through 2-3 sets and felt sluggish & awful each day. . . Working out is such a mental challenge and I knew that if I managed to have a good workout I’d feel emotionally better too. Today’s ladder series was right up my alley and hard but doable. I was able to get through 4 circuits and a modified 5th and felt strong with “with it” for the first time in a week. Even though my focus had to return to the world of blood glucose and insulin soon after, I felt normal and accomplished for the first time since our world was forever changed. Throwing you guys a sweaty Shaka. It’s official. #alexiaclark and me are new bffs. Not only are her workouts hard!! I don’t get the mid work out dread I got with the bbg workouts because I don’t have to “go back” to hellish sets. Her work out kept my mind completely engaged so there was no time to hate the work out or dwell on the pain. I was constantly thinking about form and knew once my 3 sets were complete I was done and onto the next!! I chose the 20/30 option at home because I’ve got a small baby and I don’t want to set myself up for failure. I will aim to do one 20/30 min alexia work out each day and keep at my long LISS sessions that I love. Just because it’s Christmas doesn’t mean I’m going to let things slide. In fact, I am going to take full advantage of Family childcare and really get my healthy regime a kick Start into the new year!!! Woah..... leg day today was H A R D 👊🏼👑.... but successful... . . I told a friend today that the reason I nearly always come out of my workouts feeling happy and positive and ultimately successful... is not because I can do everything with ease... or can perform everything well. But when I look at a workout - I don’t look at it like a group activity... where we will all be performing the same workout... I don’t even look at it like an @alexia_clark workout ... I look at it like it’s MY WORKOUT.. and I visualise it written just for my body... I look at each move and mentally check off my strengths and weaknesses.. I look at the moments I know I’ll be able to PUSH HARD and I underline the challenges where I’m most likely going to need a plan B... then when I’m in my workout... there are no unexpected disappointments .., I’m aware of the work I need to do when I’m feeling strong and it’s easy to go for a personal best and mentally I’m equally ready for my weak spots... do the lighter sets of weights are within easy reach or I’ve already pin pointed in my head the extra pauses I will probably take... or how I will break up the reps...working this way means I don’t ever see my weaknesses as failures. Before I even start I build my workout around my current capabilities and I’m doing what I know I can do. On a way that I know I can do it. I’m always always set up for success ... and 9 times out of ten... Feeling successful allows me to do way more than I knew I was capable of...which is why I come out of every workout feeling amazing.. now it’s important I also say...I never underestimate my self.. but I am REALISTIC ... And then when I can go a little longer or a little heavier or just push a little harder... So. Managed to get on the Lycra this morning which is a step in the right direction. I was tempted to put on my jeans but knew that would mean a workout was never going to happen. Just excuse me while I lay in the floor. I’ve just pulsed my butt to the moon & back. Wow that was some @alexia_clark lower body day. I found it a real challenge but I loved it really. I felt burning like I’ve never felt burning before!! - - Circuit 3, circuit 3!!! So I’m not a fan of the wonderful Bulgarian split squat, so when I saw this circuit with all the pulses I was ready to curl up in a ball. BUT I wanted to own this circuit. You can hate an exercise, but why not learn to love it? Ok a long way off love just yet.... anyway I did this circuit (few pauses), I took 30 seconds between each round and only used body weight. It felt like I was doing it correctly and I didn’t need anything to help me balance. Yes yes yes!! Maybe next time this comes up I’ll grab some weights 👍 - - I noticed a slight twinge in one knee when doing the curtsy lunges, it felt fine on everything else so I may just be lunging bad on that side. I wasn’t able correct it, in that I couldn’t find a way for my knee not to feel odd. I decided to substitute the exercise for deadlifts. Slightly annoying, but I’d rather listen to my body and do something else. - At circuit 5 I really had nothing left to give, but I pushed through and did 3 rounds. Great lower body @alexia_clark!! My first progress pic!!!! I am no where near ready to post a picture in my sports bra yet 🤣. My before picture: this was a few months after having my daughter in summer 2016. I’ve always struggled with my weight but after having Emma I was really unhappy with my body and needed to make a change. I was miserable!!! I found BBG in Jan 2017 and have been doing it on and off until I started Alexia Clark a month ago. My current picture: This past month has been amazing! I notice so much progress, mentally and physically. Even though I have a long way to go to reach my goal I am super proud of all that I’ve accomplished with this program so far. 😊 I’m excited to have a place where I can share my fitness journey with others on the queen team! #ALEXIACLARK W e e k 4 : Workout 3 My shoulders are on fire after today’s @alexia_clark workout. I definitely underestimated how challenging the entire workout would be. I had two favourite exercises which included the one photographed and filmed in my post ⬆️ the other one was called ‘Split Hold Twist Snatch’ - I’ll explain on my insta-stories - But the BEST part of the workout was the entire 2nd circuit. Were the rest of the #queenteam dripping with sweat after Circuit 2❓❓
