"Sally-B", a B-17G Flying Fortress aircraft, flying by with two engines smoking to simulate damage during 2013's Duxford Spring Airshow.
Worldwide, there are 10 airworthy B-17, with Sally-B being the only one in Europe in that condition.
Not sporting the larger bomb cargo capabilities of some of its colleagues, the B-17 was, nonetheless, responsible for dropping more bombs that any other US aircraft in WWII. The aircraft was relatively fast, high-flying and sported a long range as well as heavy defensive armament at the expense of bomb load and developed a reputation for toughness, with stories and photos of badly damaged B-17's safely returning to base. Over 12000 were built.
