Moments after my full Twitter melt-down during which I might have written the word "fuck" in 3 different languages, over the course of my DM conversation with Vueling Airlines customer service.
After being charged double in the Rome airport (I had already paid online and they made me pay again), I arrived in Amsterdam and my guitar did not. Apparently, they can decide not to send luggage on the same flight as the passenger to whom it belongs? So in this case, it's my @collingsguitars
baby, luckily in a tank-like flight case, but sitting somewhere in the cold airport -- at least I hope that's where it is, and not in some pawn shop in Rome.
Luckily my instruments are insured for this exact reason, but hopefully it will be located and delivered to me in Amsterdam today.
I've considered getting a different (cheaper, less important to me) guitar for travel, but I believe in enjoying the things I love. I used to put special things away and never interact with them, for fear of loss, damage, etc.....but what is the point of having anything if we cannot enjoy it? Playing my Collings guitars brings me so much joy, and exponentially increases the pleasure I get from performing. So here is the dark side of that choice to enjoy and interact daily with the things we bring into our lives, rather than set them aside for safe keeping. I still don't see the point in that.
I'll let you know when it arrives.....
