This drill is meant to work on linear acceleration & deceleration.
However, in sporting tasks things don't always happen in predictable straight lines.
By reaching the hands the entire proprioceptive chain reaction changes & different muscles are recruited in a modified reactive environment.
This can become more challenging by calling out the direction or pointing in the direction for the athlete to reach.
