Today, I’m kicking off 12 days of my favorite 12 photos from shooting adventure hunts/fishing trips all over the world in 2017. I had the idea, and then @slotsmedia
came along to push me and came up with the hashtag #myyearin12
so here we go.
Starting off on the South Island of New Zealand in March. This hunter saved money his entire life in hopes of one day taking a trip down under and crossing a giant red stag off his bucket list. Evening one he fulfilled that dream with not only a giant stag, but a world-class one at that with over 525” of antler. As I started to take trophy photos, I found it was absolutely impossible to show everything this stag had. The length, the mass, the crowns, the width, he had it all. And no matter what angle, I couldn’t capture it all in one photo. Then I found it. And the result was exactly what I was after. It’s clean. It’s respectful. The contrast of the antlers/cape against the grass really draws you in. But most importantly, I know this hunter will look at this image for the rest of his life and be taken back to this very moment and that’s what matter most.
