Ok, our mission is decreasing the number of kitties in harms way on the street AND in shelters by focusing on spay/neuter, but when a tiny, senior pup is found living under a dumpster, clearly we gotta do a trap and rescue.
This is Rodger, today at his foster mom, Candace's house in Silver Lake, and below is 3 weeks ago when he was trapped.
Rodger was covered in mats, had feces stuck in the dreads he was dragging around. His back still has scans from all the flea bites and yes he has a cataract, and we need to have almost all his teeth pulled, but he's turning into a real dog.
He sits for treats, is potty trained and loves cuddles.
We're heartbroken for any pup or kitty at a shelter, but what cats and dogs suffer on the street is far worse.
Rodger is safe because of street rescue and something as simple as a cat trap.
Absolutely everyone has the ability to prevent pups & kitties from ever needing to be rescued, all that's needed is support for free, or very low cost spay/neuter and the same kind of promotion and outreach as "adopt don't shop." Love cats, love dogs, then please find a way to throw your support behind FIXing the real problem, a complete lack of spay/neuter.
