I know the backs of guitars don’t get much love on Instagram, but this masterbuilt 1954 Stratocaster is worth checking out. Not only does the ash grain look awesome on this correct two toned Sunburst finish, you can also see the proper round string holes on the bakelite back plate. If you look closely you can also see the serial number stamped on the top of the black plate, which is the way it was on the first run of 1954 Stratocasters (they later switched to serial numbers on the neck plate). This one is up for sale! #Fender #FenderStratocaster #1954Stratocaster #1954 #Fender #FenderCustomShop #CustomShop #CustomShopStratocaster #Guitar #VintageGuitar #PreCBSFender
Still surprised that this S-Series Fender Telecaster is still around here, although it is up for sale. The serial number is an S8, but these guitars have mixed up serial numbers and can span from 1978 all the way to 1983. This one is in stunning, minty condition. And has what looks like an original or perhaps even earlier Telecaster case. Very little wear on this one, just some very small dings on the edge and some finish checking. I don’t see a date on the pots, So they may have been changed. But I do have an era I have an appropriate set of pots from 1980 that I am including. Also has original bridge cover. It’s up for sale on eBay and reverb, and also directly through me if you are interested. #Fender #FenderTelecaster #1970s #Mint #Telecaster
This ‘63 Vibroverb sounds good with just about everything! The 59 gold guard has sold, but the Riviera and the ES-335(both from 1967) are still up for grabs. The amp in the 1962 LPB Jazzmaster are not for sale :-) #Fender #Gibson #ES335 #Riviera #epiphoneriviera #gibsones335 #vibroverb #fendervibroverb
This one has so many tags, I sometimes have trouble finding the amp! Check out this 1967 Fender Champ I have for sale with a Whole Lotta paperwork! The links to my eBay and Reverb stores are in my profile. #Fender #Champ #FenderChamp #Hangtags #Paperwork #Collector
Well, it was nice having “Rosie“ around for about a week, but she sold just about as quickly as he arrived! The rosewood telecaster I had for sale is now gone, but this axe definitely convinced me to be on the hunt for an original… #Fender #RosewoodTelecaster #GeorgeHarrison #Telecaster

Here’s a couple sweet-looking Kalamazoo cousins from the late 1960s (scroll to see both pictures!). On the left is a 1967 Epiphone Riviera. On the right is it’s Gibson counterpart, the famous ES-335 from the same year. During the 1960s both Gibson and Epiphone guitars were made at the same plant, by the same people, and using many of the same materials as there Gibson cousins. These two are counterparts because they both utilize humbuckers, One “mini“ and the other full-size. They obviously differ in the pickguard style, and in the use of the trapeze and frequensator tailpieces. But they are both semi-hollow and have the same basic neck profile and body shape. Both these guitars are for sale. The Riviera is all original and show some wear to the finish. The ES-335 is really in exceptional condition, minus an all too common headstock repair and some changed tuners. #Gibson #GibsonES335 #ES335 #Vintage #1967 #Cherry #Sunburst #Guitar #VintageGuitar #epiphone #Riviera #epiphoneriviera

Here’s a short-lived oddity from the tail end of the CBS-era. It’s a Dan Smith “version 2” Stratocaster, also known as the two-knob Strat. In 82 Fender marked a return to several pre-CBS features with the “Dan Smith“ Stratocaster. Most notably they went back to the smaller headstock size from 1965 and earlier. By 83 fender was having trouble, and needed to produce a guitar that could compete with Asian made instruments in both price and quality. This guitar was the result. The free-flyte tremolo system did not require routing through the body, and the move to one tone knob opened up a spot on the pick guard for the input jack, again saving time and resources on routing. Often derided for these changes (“It’s just not the way a Strat is supposed to be“ kind of thing), The guitar was actually a complex combination of modern changes and a return to earlier features. The single ply pickguard and screw hole pattern were reminiscent of 50s strats, especially with a maple board. The idea of affixing the input jack to the pickguard with an idea fender had previously utilized with the Jazzmaster as well as some Basses. The free-flyte tremolo was definitely an innovation in that area, but so also was the offset tremolo when it first appeared on the scene. In the end, this Strat would not last long and would eventually give way to the recently retired “American Standard Stratocaster.” #Fender #Stratocaster #FenderStratocaster #DanSmith #DanSmithStratocaster #CBSEra
Mark Kendrick date and signature on a 2004 Masterbuilt Custom Shop 1954 Stratocaster. Other regular team built guitars have a whole load of numbers, codes, dates, and names. Masterbuilts typically have just a signature and the date. However, there are some exceptions to this, especially with earlier masterbuilt guitars. #Fender #CustomShop #FenderCustomShop #MasterBuilt #MarkKendrick #1954Stratocaster
