Be careful when cleaning your motorcycle this term. 😫 . “I was about to go for a ride today and my chain was pretty nasty, so I put it up on the stands and got out the wd-40 and a rag. I started the bike, put it in gear and let it idle. I sprayed the chain down really well and I put the rag up to it and it got caught and took my hand with it through the rearsprocket. I had to have everything above my last joint amputated on my index, pointer and my ring finger on my right hand. Thankfully I am left handed. It was a stupid mistake on my part and now I will forever pay the price for it.” . Hand fascia is a thin sheath of fibrous tissue enclosing muscles, tendons and neurovascular bundles. An uninterrupted three-dimensional collagen matrix gives a framework for longitudinal structures as well as an attachment to skin. Fascia is characterized by its location, density, fibre direction and fascia’s relationship to other structures. The superficial fascia of the hand continues from the dorsum of the hand to the palmar side of the hand. The superficial fascia of the digits is cylindrical being thicker in the lateral side of the fingers. . The skin that covers the dorsum of the hand is greatly different from the skin that covers the palm. The skin of the dorsum of the hand is thin and pliable. It is attached to the hand's skeleton only by loose areolar tissue, where lymphatics and veins course. This fact explains why edema of the hand is manifested predominantly at the dorsum. In addition, this loose attachment of skin makes the dorsum of the hand more vulnerable to skin avulsion injuries and also permits the creation of local flaps. . The skin of the palmar surface of the hand is unique, with characteristics for special function. The palmar skin is thick and glabrous and not as pliable as the dorsal skin. It is strongly attached to the underlying fascia by numerous vertical fibers. These features enhance skin stability for proper grasping function. . If you or a loved one are experiencing these conditions, go to the emergency room immediately to prevent any further complications. Stay safe and stay healthy everyone! 🤓 . #TestYourself 💪👣If you have foot, ankle, knee, or hip pain, this week will be your baby! 🤰Pay attention kids! This march test is a pretty common test and is a great way for you to understand which side of your hip and arch is inactive (weak).😳 This week we will be going over foot education as well as mobility and strengthening movements for the arch of your feet and hips. . . If you find that one or both of your feet turns out↪️, that means you have an inactive booty🍑 on that side! The glute actually stabilizes and rotates the knee outward. When this happens, the ankle rotates and the arch lifts ⬆️slightly, allowing your foot to straighten out. When the glute is weak, the knee collapses inward ➡️⬅️and when the arch loses stability from the hip, it also collapses inward and the foot turns outward to compensate. Strengthening the arch and the hip will turn the knee out and lift the arch, allowing the foot to straighten out.💣 . . The body functions best when it is aligned. ⚖️Having the hips, knee, ankle, and foot in alignment will reduce whatever aches and pains you have in those areas. Keep in mind 🧠that the entire body is connected🔀. To truly improve upon your issue, you have to understand how the position of each part of the body can effect another part of the body. QUICKLY SQUAT MORE COMFORTABLY . When we squat, the hip needs to flex. That's a no brainer. But a lot of you may have found that you feel a pressure or pinching in the crease of the hip as you get down there.😣 . Now I've talked about technique changes in the past that can help this, and if it's really bad, you may have to resort to swapping in a new exercise temporarily. But another thing you can try is this quick band mobilization. . By adding some distraction to the hip as you stretch it, you can make getting into flexion feel a lot better. And then over time, by working on squatting with that new motion, it'll start to stick and you will be able to sink deeper even without the stretch. So try it out. Here's how you do it.⬇️ . Test your hip flexion with your ✋ hand under your low back to maintain the lumbar curve and neutral pelvis. Then do the band mob (my band is a heavy band from @team4kor) for 1 to 2 minutes and retest. You'll find it much easier to glide into hip flexion, and your squat can instantly feel more comfortable. . Have questions? Hit me up in the comments and I'll try to help you out.
