This is an intact ectopic pregnancy from the fallopian tube (approximately 10 weeks gestation). Even though this little guy appears to be growing just fine, his time is limited because he is not growing in the moms uterus but is growing in the wrong spot- the fallopian tube. As the pregnancy grows, so does the fallopian tube. If left untreated, it will grow and grow and grow until the tube bursts. Massive internal bleeding will occur in the mom and she will die. Unfortunately when a woman is given a diagnosis of "ectopic pregnancy" there is only one treatment: surgery to remove the pregnancy. What a shitty thing to be told. Your pregnant but it's not in the right spot, so we gotta take it out. Horrible. I try not to discuss politics or religion ever in my online classroom, but I couldn't help but think while writing this post how pro life people feel about this. So out of curiosity- let's discuss it. Should this be viewed as a "controversial" elective abortion? 1. The fetus can not survive in the fallopian tube. Period. There are no miracles, no prayers, it ain't happening. The tube opening is normally about the size of a pen point and is made to transport at the biggest a fertilized egg. It is not anatomically designed to carry a 40 week gestation- 7 pound baby boy with its placenta. It's just not physically possibly. 2. The mother will die if the fetus is not removed. The tube will rupture and she will bleed to death. So the question is: are elective abortions ok when there is no chance for the fetus to survive AND the moms life is at risk? Thoughts???? #iheartautopsy #prolife #prochoice #abortion #ectopicpregnancy #womenshealth #science #medicine #pathology #life #death #surgery #obstetrics
NASA and SpaceX are now targeting no earlier than 10:35 a.m. EST Friday, Dec. 15th, for the liftoff of the Dragon space freighter with nearly 4,800 pounds of cargo. The Dragon resupply ship is pictured April 10, 2016, after it had been captured with the Canadarm2 robotic arm. Inside Dragon was about 7,000 pounds of cargo including BEAM, the Bigelow Expandable Aerospace Module. #nasa #spacex #dragon #rocket #science #international #space #station #bigelow #beam

Don’t be fooled! The cosmic swirl of stars in this Hubble Space Telescope ( @NASAHubble) image may seem tranquil and unassuming, but this spiral galaxy actually displays some explosive tendencies. In October of 2011, a cataclysmic burst of high-energy gamma-ray radiation — known as a gamma-ray burst — was detected coming from the region of sky containing this galaxy. Astronomers believe that the galaxy was the host of the burst, given that the chance of a coincidental alignment between the two is roughly 1 in 10 million. At a distance of around 185 million light-years from Earth, it was the second-closest gamma-ray burst ever detected.
