FOOD is so important to getting stronger, building muscles, and overall becoming healthier, in addition to building muscle through strength training. 👇 _⠀ When I first started my journey, I just wanted abs. I look back and laugh that I didn't really think that much about gaining strength, and just did cardio all the freaking time because I thought I could burn fat and see muscles. It took me quite a while to figure out that the most important part is to get stronger and build muscles. I actually look leaner and stronger now after kicking up my calorie intake (with nutrient-rich healthy foods) and adding weights 2-3x per week! _⠀ Building muscles is like having a larger engine in a car, which burns more fuel faster. You might end up skinny with cardio, but it reduces both fat and muscle, thus burning less fat. Weights can also increase your metabolism, thus in the long run burning more calories with less effort. _⠀ This still remains true, so I hope if you're reading this while running on the treadmill for the 6th time this week, you make sure you ate enough today and pick up some weights! I'm sharing this because I don't want you guys to fall into the same cardio trap that I did! . . . Other Defined, toned arms are one of the goals many gym goers aspire to. Research has shown that any exercise involving flexion and extension at the elbow with load will help to rid yourself of those dreaded bat wings 🦇. If time is limited, primarily focusing on arms my not be the most effective way to get more toned shredded arms. This man right here, is an inspiration to us all no matter what your goal is. While deployed to Delaram/Sangin, Afghanistan in 2010, he was operating as a part of a push into Taliban territory, he was tasked with clearing an area with a high likelihood of containing an IED. It was in this capacity that he was wounded in action by a land mine. The injury resulted in a left knee dis-articulation and a right above knee amputation of his legs. He now lives day by day using this incident as motivation to push himself to meet his goals and along the way it’s encouraged so many people to follow him. 31 MARATHONS, in 31 CITIES, in 31 DAYS!!!
