  • This is one of my favorite niches of our property, a cove of Balsa wood trees, Ochroma pyramidale. They remind me of some of Georgia O'Keefe's painting that feature tree trunks. Maybe I should paint from this little scene. Sitting here in the late afternoon you realize just how many birds use this riverside property🌳💚🌳

Sunrise over wetlands at Blackwater Falls State Park in West Virginia. Blackwater Falls State Park is named for the falls of the Blackwater River whose amber-colored waters plunge five stories then twist and tumble through an eight-mile long gorge. The "black" water is a result of tannic acid from fallen hemlock and red spruce needles. The falls are one of the most photographed sites in West Virginia.
