Lunges/split squats are a fantastic exercise for building unilateral strength, stability, mobility, and hammering your glutes and hammies (and many other ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป in the hips and legs). - I often find people are a bit confused about different variations and stance widths so here are some tips that will hopefully help. - A slightly narrower stance will put a more emphasis on your quads #quadsofthegods. A narrower stance can also put a little more strain on your knee so really make sure your heel is staying firmly planted and your knee is tracking in line with your foot (and not off to the side). - Widening your stance can also be helpful if you want to put even more emphasis on ze glutes. I personally find elevating my front foot really lights them up ๐Ÿ”ฅ. With Bulgarian split squats (everyone's favourite ๐Ÿ˜) even more of the work is performed by the front leg because the back foot is elevated. - Don't forget to brace your core to keep your torso rigid and make sure your hips aren't coming forward. I notice it most when people (mayyyyybe including myself) are doing walking lunges and getting fatigued. - Hopefully this helped a lieeetttle if you were unsure. Glutes on fiyyaaaaa ๐Ÿ”ฅ I did this circuit the other day and needless to say my butt cheeks and hammies are still crying. ๐Ÿ˜ญ 1. Landmine reverse lunge to curtsy lunge. Also works stabilization, core & shoulders ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ( hello calorie burn) 2. Dead lift to squat pulse- Keep stomach pulled in tight to support your lower back 3. Landmine dead to curtsy lunge- on curtsy lunge keep bar over your or slightly outside of your foot. 4. Squat to dead lift - be careful! This requires a lot of core support after your squat. If you have a weaker lower back stay with dead lift to squat. 4. Deadlift to squat- Keep neutral spine and knees in alignment with your 2nd and 3rd toe. Donโ€™t allow your knees to cave in.
