📍 The Watch House, Tower Bridge, SE1 3UW
Excited about this one today 😀- A bit of background✍️: In my old office those bloody white Starbucks cups were more prevalent than a bad smell in Infernos😷. If you were lucky, you might see a Costa or Nero 🙊Sad times😞. But every now and again, you’d spot a mysterious, sexy black cup knocking about. From where did this beautiful cup come from? @thewatchhouseuk.
Two impressive sites are located south of the river; one on Bermondsey Street and another by Tower Bridge, the former being based in an actual 19th century Watch House👀. Today I’m checking out the Tower Bridge spot 🏄
💭First impressions - 10/10
TWH’s exterior is classy AF - this spot wouldn’t feel out of place on Bond Street💎. Grab on one of the brass door knobs and get yourself in🚶. There’s a lot going on inside, and it’s all goooood baby: fresh sourdough bread🍞, mouthwatering sandwiches🥙, delightful smoothies🍎, soups🍲, BOOZE🍻 and oh yes… coffee☕️. It’s a lot to take in but somehow it all fits together really well. I’d describe the styling as ’car-park chic’🚗; white washed brick walls and exposed pipes with the obligatory beach wood furnishings🌴. All done to a very high standard.
☕️The coffee - 9/10
Ozone coffee and the 👃 is delightfully earthy🌎 and well balanced with caramel🍯. Same story for the 👅 which again is earthy,🌎 chocolatey🍫 and silky smooth. This espresso notably lacks that horrible bitterness which is so prevalent in London coffees. Very nice 👌
💥Strength - Medium
Will see you through, but the focus here is on flavour, not strength
🏅Overall - 10/10
Wow. Another coffee shop that stands within a league of its own - top points for TWH🏆. Much like myself, this place is sexy both on the outside AND the inside😛 and goodness me, the coffee isn’t half bad either. It’s only a matter of time before these guys put Starbucks in their place👊!! I wish them all the best in continuing to spread great coffee around London💪. You’ve got to go check this one out 🔥🔥🔥
