IIFYM OR CLEAN EATING - which is better? -
The answer is: whatever is best for YOU at the moment, that makes YOU feel good, is in line with YOUR goals, and is the best thing for you to experience RIGHT NOW, and it can CHANGE in the future. -
In my most recent YouTube video, I explained that I'm currently intuitively eating, focused on an 80/20 lifestyle and getting back to "normalcy." Mostly, I eat foods that nourish my body. Sometime, I'll crave a doughnut so I'll go get one (S/o to the best shop ever, @sidecardoughnuts
In the past, I tracked my food and calories in order to get the body I wanted for competition preps. And I kept doing it to reach another goal I had this year - to reach a "happy sustainable medium" physically where I look and feel healthy.
I couldn't give up the idea of tracking my food because I just wasn't frighten ready yet. So many people around me were able to do it; but it wasn't my time to dive into that yet based on where I was in my journey.
The moral of the story is - everyone is freakin different man. It's so easy to preach about what method is "best" and what you "should" be doing - but sometimes, you may have to actually experience something to learn what's best for you long term. It's completely okay to try things, change things, and learn exactly what's best for you.
So long as you're self-aware of what the "ultimate" end goal for you is (for me, it's sustainability in my body in how I like to look, feeling amazing on the inside with energy and a happy digestive system, and training consistently in a way that makes me feel good) you're gonna be just fine in whatever stage your in. Enjoy your doughnut if that's where you are. Enjoy your green smoothies and prep foods if that's where you are. Just don't think it's wrong - it's exactly where you're supposed to be in order for you to learn what's meant for you to learn. -
