💥BROWN RICE vs. WHITE RICE💥 - 🏓For years and years and years, white rice has been demonized as "bad" or "worse" than brown rice. The reasons vary but mainly have to do with one of two [misinformed] points. - 🦄Vitamin and Mineral Content - for some reason people think brown rice has more/better nutrients. But, as you can see in this picture, that's not the case. They both have a bunch of important nutrients and what one lacks, the other makes up for. Worth noting, the micronutrient differences between the two are VERY small. So while both have distinct advantages, the vitamin/mineral content between white & brown rice is nearly identical. - 🌵The Glycemic Index (GI) - long story short, people have been led to believe white rice is worse for you because it's GI is higher and therefore spikes blood sugar more. But, fact is, the GI of a food doesn't tell us how "bad" it is for you. It just tells us how quickly that food can raise blood sugar. Watermelon, for example, is one of the highest GI foods in the world but I guarantee you don't know a single person who got fat or had serious health problems from eating it. There's just A LOT more to health (calorie content, nutrient makeup, etc) than the glycemic index, and anyone who tells you otherwise is probably trying to sell you something. - 🐣The take-home point here is white rice is NOT worse for you than brown rice. A couple weeks ago I posted up pics from exactly a year ago right before I won my pro card so I figured I would do the same this week since it marks 1 year after I made my pro debut. Well tomorrow actually but close enough. Thought I might as well keep the trend up of having the weird half-tan/pale face thing going on lol. This was taken right after my first coat of dream tan after eating ~1100g carbs and ~3 gallons of water earlier that day. - Stepping on the pro stage for the first time was quite surreal... I'll never forget that feeling. Truly an iconic moment in my life. Make no mistake though, the pro ranks are no joke. At that level everyone has won an Overall at a previous show to even get their pro card so when you think about it that way, that basically means that even the weakest pro's are tougher to beat than the best amateurs. Placing in a high quality pro line up is a huge feat on its own that not many will ever be able to do. - I wish I had a really cool rookie story to tell about how I came out and dominated my pro debut but the fact of the matter is I got my ass spanked lol and placed 8th out of 11. I was very conditioned but that can only take you so far in bodybuilding. I was able to hang from the front and was kept near the middle, but as soon as we turned around it was obvious how much size my back lacked in comparison so that's where I lost a lot of points. I guess in my credit it was an incredibly stacked show with all of the Top 5 having won pro shows before and one of them winning the HW natty world title later that year, not to mention since it was just one class I was competing with some guys who outweighed me by 30-40 lbs. that wouldn't be in my weight class at Worlds. Not trying to make excuses though because that's just the way it goes. You can't control who shows up and at the pro level it's more important than ever. Competing against the best of the best really opened my eyes to what it takes to be competitive at the pro level and I'm willing to work for however long I need in order to get there. Patience is absolutely key in a sport like this; an elite pro physique just takes time to build and there's no other way around that.

‼️ATTENTION‼️: Just because something is "organic" or purchased at a health food store does NOT ❌ make it magically better for losing weight 🔮 - Organic Chips & Guacamole are great examples... - Avocados 🥑 (you know, the main ingredient of guac 💁) are full of healthy fats and nutrients, but those healthy fats bring along a TON of extra calories too. - The "organic" corn chips? Well... I'm not even going to get started on those 🙄... Just know that, for losing fat, they're pretty much identical to regular chips. - My recommendation ✅: if you enjoy eating Chips & Guac (preferably alongside a delicious Chipotle burrito 🌯😋), then go ahead and eat 'em up! - Just make sure they fit within your nutrition targets and you get plenty of protein 🍖 & veggies 🥗 the rest of the day 👌 - Oh, and pay attention to portions, 'cause dem Calz gonna add up fast, y'all. 😘 - PS. I'm NOT saying you should Fritos and cheese sauce instead.
