During each cycle of fasting, this depletion of white blood cells induces changes that trigger stem cell-based regeneration of new immune system cells.
In trials humans were asked to regularly fast for between two and four days over a six-month period.
Scientists found that prolonged fasting also reduced the enzyme PKA, which is linked to ageing and a hormone which increases cancer risk and tumour growth.
In Islam it is encouraged to fast 3 days out of the month as it has lots of virtue Spiritually and Physically, the Prophet PBUH said, ‘It is sufficient for you to fast three days every month, because for every good deed you will have (the reward of) ten like it, so that will be like fasting for a lifetime’ Bukhaaree (1874); Muslim (1159)
He also was clear that the best way is 3 consecutive days as well, and mentioned this 1400 years ago before any of this research came out, ‘If you fast any part of the month, then fast the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth.’**
So that’s the day before the full moon, on the full moon, and the day after!
