Goya, Coca-Cola JetBlue, the Yankees, and AT&T and more turn their backs on the 57th Puerto Rican Day Parade because of its plans to honor what many New Yorkers call a known terrorist.
While others consider him a hero, Oscar López Rivera's expected honoring has drawn much controversy. The leader of the Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional aka FALN, a group dedicated to Puerto Rico's liberation from the United States, Lopez was labeled a terrorist for allegedly leading many attacks against NYC and other major cities.
FALN is responsible for more than 100 bombings from 1973 to 1983. In 1975, four people were killed when FALN bombed Fraunces Tavern in lower Manhattan and then in 1982 an officer was also killed when the group bombed NYC's Police Headquarters.
