I've found that many circumstances and situations in my life followed what I expected. Am I blindsided at times by the unexpected? Yes. But if I cannot change something, what is my benefit in arguing it? I seek to understand what the lesson is within the circumstance and how to better it or craft it into what I want to see happen within it. [ #Dignity] ◾️Never have I heard such a thorough dissection and practical implementation of this topic. ◾️I've read lots of books on practical application of social skills, but never one that goes as in depth/deep as this one. ◾️Dr. Hicks goes through many real-life scenarios of people hurting others' dignity, scientific and psychological background on what it does, and then also people mending relationships and giving true, healing attention to others' pain and selves (respecting their dignity). ◾️I wish I'd read/listened to this years ago. It's time to gear up for another week! Let's roll! :) ◾️Everything we do (or do not do) counts. (If you enjoy videos, I discussed this topic recently in one of my Facebook live sessions. Check out some of my other videos while you are there!) ◾️Taken into the realm of fitness, the 10 pushups we do, or don't do, matter - the stress we put, or choose to not put, on our muscles make a difference, so, yes - the 10 pushups matter. ◾️Taken into the realm of nutrition, the chocolate cake for dessert after dinner that we eat (generally about 350-500 calories, full of processed sugar/carbs) or that we choose not to eat, makes a difference. ◾️Taken into the realm of mindset, both of these actions, or choices away from these actions, has a compounding and consistent affect on our state of emotion, motivation, and well-being. Doing the 10 pushups can make us feel like a champ. Turning down the chocolate cake can make us feel empowered towards our fitness goals that we have in sight, if slimming down is one of those goals. ◾️It's a matter of where we put our focus. 🌺🎁💓What do you want most?💓🎁🌺 ◾️Activity and exercise, no matter how small, doesn't only have an impact on our health and fitness, but it helps to spur us to figuring out how we can fit a little more in next week. Nutritional choices, again, no matter how small, also not only have an impact on our health and fitness, but positive, healthy choices spawn more positive healthy choices and feelings of empowerment.

Just finished this book, and, wow! Every American from every social class/economic group and ethnicity should read this. And read/listen all the way through. J.D., an Appalachian Kentucky man's story of being the first in his family to go to college, then law school at Yale, and build a successful life, with a lot of lessons along the way. He not only discusses his own experience, but statistics around the experiences he had and how prevalent they are. This is not a story of his own strength and resilience to make it happen, but rather a testament to those that helped him along the way that made it possible, and the very real challenges he faced and continues to face as a result of the traumatic life experiences he encountered as a kid raised in his environment. I could relate to and understand many of his stories with my own experiences growing up. The end of the book opens up, connects all of the dots, and reveals his heart of seeing the possibility of every child in America having an opportunity at a healthy, happy life - namely, the "American dream." It's a beautiful book that evokes compassion towards the "less fortunate" in America society. #learnbetterdobetter #compassion #america

New post on my website blog! Link in bio!☝🏼✅ ◾️WHAT DRIVING INTO A TREE GOING 65 MPH TAUGHT ME A little over 2 weeks ago, I was driving on I-85 returning from visiting my parents in NC. It was just after dark. I was minding my own business, with no one in front of me, excited to be only an hour from home, listening to my audiobook, when I came across a tree that had freshly fallen entirely across the northbound highway. ◾️Within a half of a second, 2 thoughts: 0.01 sec: "That's not real/right." 0.04 sec: "NO!" ◾️I slammed the brakes and braced myself. ◾️I went through the tree, and the tree went through the car. Airbags. Skidding, spinning. I wound up facing southbound in the right hand side ditch. ◾️Audiobook was still playing. I grabbed my phone and quickly got out of the car. (Thought: "I'm out of here!"). Got away from the car and called 911. ◾️Cars had been behind me by about 1/2 a mile. The next one came. They didn't see it in time, either. They plowed through and spun to the shoulder as well. ◾️6 cars plowed through before traffic came to a halt on 85. ◾️NO INJURIES. ◾️Not one. ◾️I recognize my extreme and miraculous blessing to have not even been scratched. One of the biggest things I work with clients on is finding what kind of movement and activities appeal to them. Many people, I have found, aren't particularly fond of the gym. I'm sure you've heard of the "body love" movement - the "love yourself no matter what size, shape, BMI you are," yes? ▪️I am in favor of this. On one condition. That body love causes you to take care of your body better. ▪️Can we really say that we are loving ourselves if we are not feeding it proper nourishment - enough, not too much, and the nutrient-dense foods, versus the nutrient-weak foods? Or that we are loving ourselves by being couch potatoes? ▪️When we love something, we care for it. It is the example of picking a flower. We don't pick flowers because we LOVE them. We pick them because we want them. If we LOVED them, we would water, nurture, and care for them, respecting their life while enjoying their beauty. ▪️On the other side of this body love and goals fence, when we have goals, we must approach them from a place of unconditional self-love. This means that whether we reach the goals or not, we love ourselves. It means that we don't wait to love ourselves until we reach a goal. [[YOU DON'T NEED 60 MINUTES]] I was talking with a new client the other day and we were discussing how they were stressed about the fact that they felt they could not set aside a full hour out of the day to work out, not in the mornings, or on their lunch hour, or in the evenings .. ▪️But they did say that they could take 10 minutes our of their day, here and there - to take a break from their desks and walk about, maybe even outside and around the building, just for a bit .. ▪️However, they said that they did not do this, because they felt like it would not matter, because the "exercise" was not at least 30 minutes and wouldn't really make a difference. ▪️I am glad that they communicated this. I think it is a common misconception in our culture and lives today, holding us back from greater fitness, peace of mind, well-being, and happiness! ▪️▪️If all you have is 10 minutes a few times a day, TAKE IT! Use it for all it is worth. It DOES count! It DOES matter. ▪️10 minutes can positively affect your state of mind, boost your metabolism, and so much more! ▪️EVERYTHING you do matters. Every minute you spend doing anything matters - be it according to work, your own health and fitness, your family, etc. ▪️It counts. It matters. Get every ounce that you can. Don't discount 10 minutes, or a single minute. ▪️Get out there. The weather is nicer (in general, perhaps not precisely today! hehe). You WILL feel better. Just try it.
